Overview

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. Position Summary: 

 

The Senior Editor, Producer is responsible for editing and producing video assets for multiple channels within the multimedia department.

Responsibilities

The Senior Editor, Producer’s primary role will be to work directly with the Multimedia Director to produce evocative digital storytelling for NRDC’s multimedia department, serving multiple channels. He/she is an accomplished video editor who can develop original ideas for video as well as edit existing material into a compelling narrative. The successful candidate is a gifted storyteller and a versatile thinker. He/she is an accomplished producer, skilled project manager and has a comprehensive understanding of post-production and digital workflow. He/she is capable of working in a fast-paced, fluid, digital environment.

 

Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Work with Multimedia Director to develop, produce and edit video stories for multimedia department
  • Produce and edit engaging, topical digital video on tight deadlines
  • Administer creative, collaborative, solution-based communication to lead production
  • Edit existing content into compelling original content
  • Coordinate and produce multimedia shoots: execute project estimates and oversee budgets, manage scope of project, and assemble talent and crew
  • Generate production and post production project schedules and deadlines
  • Implement technical workflow and adhere to editorial strategic planning for video
  • Research and secure supplemental b-roll video footage
  • Manage and execute basic and complex video, audio, color correction and format conversion. Identify original and intelligent story telling opportunities and assemble main story lines for videos
  • Supervise and lead freelance editors to deliver on brand creative
  • Direct VO talent, composer sessions and music cues

Qualifications

  • Highly organized and efficient 
  • Pro-active with excellent interpersonal skills and able to work in a team setting, as well as independently
  • Strong understanding of current digital trends, cinematography and editing principles
  • Capable of juggling multiple projects and ability thrive in a busy and dynamic digital work environment
  • Collaborative and solution based communicator
  • Accomplished video editor and exceptional researcher
  • Experienced in social media platforms as well as traditional video formats
  • Expert in Adobe Premier, Adobe Creative Suite and Cinema Cameras
  • Proficient in archiving techniques, key wording and metadata, digital workflow and digital asset management system
  • Experience with animation/motion graphics a plus
  • Strong understanding of NRDC’s missions and goals; environmental or nonprofit experience is beneficial
  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in video editing and production for environmental content focused websites, or the equivalent combination of experience and education required.
