Today, our staff – a force for nature - work out of offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bozeman, Montana and Beijing.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Facilities & Administration Department is seeking a Project Coordinator to help ensure staff have what they need to achieve NRDC’s mission. The position will support implementation of NRDC’s Sustainable Operations program, working with the Sustainability Manager on aspects such as coordination of construction projects, sustainability reporting, communications and staff engagement, and with the Senior Project Manager on real estate planning, data collection and analysis, management of travel, workspace and meeting software, corporate card, and procurement.. We seek applicants with sound judgment and outstanding interpersonal skills.

 

Responsibilities

 

General Duties

  • Assisting Sustainability Manager and Project Manager with implementation of projects across all NRDC offices including, but not limited to the following:
    • Coordination of green building projects, construction, and retrofits.
    • Support for green building certifications, including materials compliance research and documentation, for standards including LEED, Living Building Challenge and WELL Building.
    • Tracking and reporting of sustainability metrics
    • Research cutting edge sustainability best practices relevant to projects, including tapping in-house expertise.
    • Engage with NRDC staff on behavior change initiatives.
    • Support in drafting internal communications on facilities & administration activities.
    • Support in drafting external communications including blogs, conferences, sustainability reporting and white papers to disseminate NRDC’s best practices in sustainable operations.
    • Support procurement processes for energy, office services, equipment and supplies.
    • Help refine NRDC workspace and meeting management systems across all offices.
    • Other projects as assigned.
  • Support for ongoing facilities and administration programs including:
    • Workspace and meeting management systems
    • Corporate Travel
    • Corporate Card
    • Emissions calculations and offsets

 

Qualifications

 

Timely completion and attention to detail are expected in carrying out these tasks, as is the ability to make decisions and assess situations with the "big picture" in mind. The Project Coordinator must work well under pressure and respond to dynamic requests and issues in a calm and professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • College degree in finance, economics, business administration, engineering and/or sustainability management.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Must like to work collaboratively, manage a heavy and diverse workload and independently execute duties.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, organize time, and identify resources for projects as needed.
  • Proficient with Excel, databases, PowerPoint and electronic communication.
  • Experience working with environmental and/or social issues, including renewable energy, sustainable procurement, carbon accounting preferred.
