Overview

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science, and the support of more than 2.4 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. Our staff of some 500 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy and communications experts, and others work out of offices in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bozeman, Montana, and Beijing, China.

 

Position Summary:

NRDC is seeking a Winter Intern to work with our Land & Wildlife Program in NRDC’s Northern Rockies Office in Bozeman, Montana. This internship will support NRDC’s advocacy work on wildlife, federal policy, and public land issues in the Northern Rockies. Some travel may be required. The internship will begin in January 2018, it is a 40-hour-per-week position, it will last approximately three months, and the intern will receive a stipend.

 

Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research factual and policy issues relevant to NRDC’s wildlife, federal policy, and public lands advocacy;
  • Draft, proofread, and edit documents (e.g., research memoranda);
  • Help with outreach and education efforts; and
  • Generally assist Land & Wildlife program staff with various projects.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree;
  • Outstanding academic record;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple demanding tasks;
  • Ability to work both on a team and independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines;
  • Exceptional research, writing and communication skills;
  • Strong interest in conservation issues in the West; and
  • Enthusiasm for NRDC’s mission.
