The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science and the support of 1.3 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our staff helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, and many of the implementing regulations; our water enforcement cases played a major role shaping current water policy throughout the country. Today, our staff of more than 430 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy and communications experts, and others, work out of offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bozeman, Montana and Beijing.
NRDC is seeking an intern to work in our Administration/Facilities Department in our Santa Monica, San Francisco, New York or DC office. The intern will work with the Sustainability Manager, Project Coordinator and the Director of Facilities & Sustainability to help with tasks related to the sustainable operations strategy. These include staff engagement, various projects related to energy, water and waste reduction and researching best practices. Additionally, they will communicate NRDC’s initiatives both internally and externally. They will be responsible for drafting blogs, creating content for NRDC’s website and drafting lecture and presentation materials for the department’s external speaking engagements. The intern will help the Sustainability team effectively communicate sustainability strategies and successes. The candidate should be strong in project management and exhibit strong organizational, communication and analytical skills. The candidate will work with Facilities Managers in all seven offices and the Sustainability Manager.
The internship is for Fall/Winter 2017. Hours are generally 9:30am to 5:30pm, start and end dates and other scheduling details are negotiable.
