Position Summary:


NRDC is seeking a Program Assistant (PA) to work with the Climate and Clean Energy Western Region Team. This position will be an integral part of the program’s advocacy success. The position provides administrative support to managers and advocates, requiring strong organizational skills, ability to juggle multiple, complex tasks, and willingness to work with a diverse and fast-paced team with limited supervision.


  • Execute various administrative support tasks, including scheduling, expense reports, setting up meetings, note-taking, and supporting staff with applications such as Blue Jeans and Drobox;
  • Monitor monthly project and grant reports;
  • Operate as team liaison with consultants to ensure compliance and fulfillment of contract deliverables, process invoices for compensation in accordance with consulting agreements, and draft contracts for consultants;
  • Assist with ongoing commission proceedings, including tracking major deadlines, advising team regarding compliance with regulatory agency practices, and filing both administrative and legal documents with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC); the California Energy Commission (CEC); and other regulatory agencies;
  • Update Legal Docket system and serve Litigation Program court filings as needed;
  • Perform word processing functions of legal proceedings, memoranda, reports, correspondence, etc., including drafting, proofreading, editing, and formatting; and
  • Upload final documents to the program’s document and regulatory libraries.


  • Three years in an administrative position required; senior-level preferred;
  • BA/BS graduate with excellent academic credentials;
  • Strong facility with spreadsheets and databases, and experience with accounting and finance;
  • Detail oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently, following organizational procedures and performing accurately under deadlines;
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and follow through on multiple, complex tasks with a high degree of autonomy;
  • Must possess a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
