The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is seeking a full-time project analyst to support analysis and project management for our China Oil Cap Policy Project, to be based in NRDC’s Beijing office. The project seeks to help China to peak and reduce its oil consumption as early as possible in key sectors including transportation and the chemicals industry, by providing policy and technical recommendations to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy.

The China Oil Cap Policy Project Analyst will provide analytical and research coordination support for a project cooperating with government research institutes, think tanks, and universities, on the research, design, and implementation of an oil consumption cap policy for China to meet environmental, health, climate, and sustainable economic development goals. The Project Analyst will support the China Oil Cap Policy Project by coordinating and supporting the research of various project partners, conducting research related to the design of an oil consumption cap policy, and monitoring and reporting on project activities and deliverables. The Project Analyst may also assist with quantitative and qualitative analysis to support the Oil Cap Policy Project, including modeling of energy and emissions scenarios related to an oil cap policy; analysis of policy and technical options for designing an oil cap policy in key sectors including transportation and the chemicals industry; and analysis of relevant Chinese and international studies and policies related to oil consumption reduction. The Project Analyst will be based in NRDC’s Beijing office and will form an integral part of the NRDC China climate and energy team.
