    The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization.     Position Summary:


    NRDC is seeking a Program Assistant to work with the Climate & Clean Energy Program, in our New York office. The candidate will provide administrative support to a team of clean energy advocates and must be adept at efficiently handling tasks such as: scheduling internal and external meetings, coordinating events, booking travel, processing expenses, managing budgets, performing substantive research, proofreading, and preparing written materials.


    • Scheduling and facilitating internal and external meetings;
    • Coordinating schedules and travel arrangements;
    • Maintaining calendar appointments and meetings;
    • Processing invoices and business expenses;
    • Tracking grants and discretionary spending in Excel;
    • Assisting with coordination of various elements of the overall Climate and Clean Energy budget, with the guidance from the program managers;
    • Performing research on substantive advocacy as needed;
    • Assisting with drafting and distribution of memos, blogs and other communications; editing and proofreading letters, documents, memoranda, publications, correspondence, etc.;
    • Providing general substantive/administrative support on ad hoc projects.


    • Bachelor’s degree;
    • 3-5 years previous administrative experience (preference given for experience tracking budgets and/or demonstration of accounting experience);  
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, organize and coordinate multiple tasks, set priorities, follow organizational procedures, and perform quickly and accurately under deadlines;
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion;
    • Excellent time-management skills;
    • Ability to work well under pressure and be detail-oriented; and,
    • Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
