Overview

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our staff helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, and many of the implementing regulations. Today, our staff of more than 700 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy advocates, communications experts, and others work across the United States and internationally from our offices in New York; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Santa Monica; San Francisco; Bozeman, Montana; and Beijing.

 

Position Summary:

 

NRDC is seeking a Membership Gift Processing Manager to work with the Development Donor Systems team in our New York office.  The Manager will support the Donor Systems team, with an emphasis on Membership gift processing and data integrity, managing a functional unit within the team focusing on Membership Gift Processing.

 

Responsibilities

Management

  • Manages two Gift Processing Specialists
    • Will set forth goals and performance expectations and hold team accountable
    • Will address opportunities for career growth and knowledge building on team
    • Will actively address performance issues
  • Maintain relationship and act as main point of contact for mail processing caging vendor, responsible for resolving any escalated issues

 Membership Gift Processing Responsibilities

  • Oversight of Membership gift processing, including batch entry from consultants and partners
  • Leads reconciliation process with Finance and Accounting
  • Responsible for Membership related reporting and data integrity practices
  • Adheres to established data standards and practices, participates in intermittent data integrity related projects

 Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years of work experience required
  • Salesforce experience strongly preferred
  • At least 5 years of Nonprofit Development and Membership experience required
  • Previous management experience required
  • Direct Mail experience required
  • Excel experience required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Systems based thinking skills
  • Project management skills
  • Sound judgement and the ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and commensurate with skills and experience.  The salary for this position could range from $70,000 to $76,000.
