Today, our staff of more than 700 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy advocates, communications experts, and others work across the United States and internationally from our offices in New York; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Santa Monica; San Francisco; Bozeman, Montana; and Beijing.   Position Summary NRDC is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in the San Francisco office. In this role, you will work closely with the HR Partner to advise and support the delivery of HR services to a diverse client group of advocates, lawyers and subject matter experts. You will serve as a key resource to clients and Operations partners on the application and interpretation of HR policies and processes, and the coordination of the employee lifecycle. You will also have the opportunity to bring your execution excellence, exceptional client service, and creative problem solving skills to a variety of people challenges, initiatives and process improvements.   Since March 2020, NRDC’s physical offices have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Until circumstances allow us to re-open our offices, we will continue to support staff with remote working arrangements.

RECENT NRDC VICTORIES  - Successfully challenging numerous rollbacks of environmental protections by the Trump administration - Safeguarding the people of Flint, Michigan, from exposure to lead in drinking water - Successfully defending the protection of 128 million acres in the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans from oil and gas leasing  Position Summary:   NRDC is seeking three legal interns to work with the Litigation Team for the fall semester 2021 in our Washington, D.C.; San Francisco, CA; and Chicago, IL offices (one intern per office). Until circumstances allow us to re-open our offices, we will continue to support interns with remote working arrangements.   The legal intern selected for this position may participate in writing briefs, drafting complaints, preparing legal analyses, obtaining affidavits, and investigating violations of environmental and health laws. Interns are also invited to participate in litigation planning and strategy meetings. Our interns play an active role on the frontlines to protect our planet and the communities that depend on it.     Legal interns have the choice between receiving academic credit or receiving a stipend of $28/hour for their internship. We can help with applications or other materials that are needed to secure the credit (e.g., preparation of workplans and evaluations, meetings with academic advisors).    The internship will begin in August or September and end before exams. Start and end dates and other scheduling details are negotiable, but we look for a minimum time commitment of two days a week in our office over the course of an academic term.  Full-time interns are welcome.

Today, our staff of more than 700 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy advocates, communications experts, and others work across the United States and internationally from our offices in New York; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Santa Monica; San Francisco; Bozeman, Montana; and Beijing.   Position Summary   NRDC’s Litigation Team is seeking to hire one or more Senior Litigators to be affiliated with any one of our five main U.S. offices: Santa Monica, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, or Washington D.C.   The Team is a group of approximately 30 lawyers and 8 litigation and operations assistants who pursue litigation across a broad range of environmental and public health issues and in collaboration with and on behalf of communities most impacted by environmental injustices (including Black, indigenous, and people of color, and low-income and rural communities). We have filed lawsuits resisting the Trump Administration’s efforts to dismantle environmental protections, including cases defending national monuments, challenging the suspension of clean water safeguards, opposing offshore drilling and seismic exploration, and protecting energy efficiency standards. We also have a growing docket of environmental enforcement cases against government and private party polluters. This has recently included cases to protect the people of Newark, New Jersey and Flint, Michigan, from lead in drinking water; to remediate toxic pollution in the Penobscot River in Maine; to abate mold in New York City public housing for residents with asthma; and to halt air pollution from a coal-fired power plant in Illinois.   Since March 2020, NRDC’s physical offices have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
