The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is an international nonprofit environmental organization with more than 3 million members and online supporters. With a highly effective team of more than 40 members based in our Beijing office, we have worked hard at both the national and local levels to recommend, develop, and support the implementation of innovative laws, policies, technologies, and market tools that curb pollution and accelerate China’s transition to a clean, low-carbon economy. NRDC's Beijing Representative Office is registered under the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau and supervised by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China in accordance with applicable laws.

 

NRDC is seeking a Project Coordinator/Senior Project Coordinator in our Beijing office.


Position Summary
NRDC is seeking a Project Coordinator/Senior Project Coordinator to work with the Environmental Law & Governance team in our Beijing office. The China Environmental Law and Governance Project works to promote environmental laws, environmental governance, climate finance, and other environmental protection issues. The Project Coordinator/Senior Project Coordinator will provide overall administrative, project management and research support for the team and work collaboratively with other NRDC teams to meet overall China program goals.

This position is based in NRDC’s Beijing office and is an integral part of NRDC’s China team in the International Program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall support for project operation and administration, including organizing meetings and events, preparing compliance and financial paper works; logistic arrangement for team events and business trips; taking meeting notes, etc.
  • Draft, submit and track contracts for legal review and process approved contracts for signing.
  • Process business expenses, keep records and process payments to partners, vendors, and consultants. Track payments status and invoices.
  • Translation between Chinese and English as required; assisting in project research and report review as requested.
  • Carry out project documents filing and recording, including project reports, contracts, invoices, photos, videos and other project materials.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Director.

Qualifications

  • Degree in energy, environmental or public policy, law or a related field.
  • Related experience in similar capacity will be preferred.
  • Experience in communications, journalism or policy advocacy a plus.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese, with excellent oral and written skills as well as bilingual translation ability.
  • A high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with great team spirit.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, follow organizational procedures, and perform accurately under deadlines.
  • Experience working in the public and/or non-profit sector desired.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in environmental issues a plus.
