NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. Position Description 

NRDC seeks to fill the position of Board Operations Coordinator in our New York office. This role will provide logistical and operational support to the NRDC and NRDC Action Fund Boards and Board Relations team, which is housed within NRDC’s Executive Office 

Reporting to the Associate Director, Board Relations, the Coordinator will work closely with the Associate Director in the planning of triannual Board meetings, provide administrative support to the Board committees, and provide general operational support in the overall management of the NRDC Board. 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, quick learner, and has an excellent ability to prioritize assignments and projects to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the team. We seek a skilled collaborator, who is highly organized and communicative, exercises good judgment, discretion, and tact, and is comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment. This is a limited term two year position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Associate Director in all aspects of hybrid board meeting logistics, including attendance tracking, meeting correspondence, Zoom logistics, venue and vendor coordination.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director; attend meetings, take notes, and follow-up, as needed.
  • Assist in the drafting, editing, formatting and proofreading of board materials, including forms, briefings, memos, presentations, and correspondence. 
  • Maintain key files related to the work of the Board committees; be familiar with the purpose and function of all board committees. Assist the Director and leadership in the coordination of committee meetings.
  • Ensure upkeep of NRDC’s Board portal, OnBoard. Collaborate with the Director and colleagues across departments in preparation for committee and board meetings by drafting, collecting, and organizing materials on the board portal, OnBoard. Serve as a resource to other members of NRDC by providing instruction and guidance on the platform’s functionality.
  • Support the planning and logistics of trustee engagement opportunities, including orientations and educational programming.
  • Help manage relationships with, and communications to, individual board members and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate mailings of materials, gifts, and swag. 
  • Provide ad-hoc, hands-on support for a variety of projects and roles. 
  • Be an accessible, collaborative, roll-up-the-sleeves problem solver.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. 
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years of administrative and scheduling experience required. 
  • Experience supporting multiple team members while juggling competing priorities and projects at the same time. 

Skills, Abilities, Competencies   

  • Excellent project coordination skills; ability to prioritize and balance a high volume of projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and nimble, ability to adjust to a changing environment. Excellent communicator; willingness to be in regular communication with the team.
  • Able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure and in high stress environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook). Experience with Asana, Concur, Salesforce, and OnBoard a plus. Comfortable learning new software and tools.
  • Ability to travel for in-person board meetings and events and to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $55,000 to $61,000 

 

NRDC operates under a hybrid work model. Employees are required to come to the office 8 days per month.
