NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. NRDC is seeking a Membership Administrative Coordinator to work with the Development team in our New York or Washington D.C. office.

 

Position Summary

 

The Administrative Coordinator’s main responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to NRDC Members as well as providing support to managers and gift officers in the Membership department. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable with juggling multiple responsibilities and balancing priorities. The Membership Administrative Coordinator’s time would be dedicated to handling a wide range of duties that enable smooth Membership services functioning and are in service of supporting high-level professionals at NRDC. 

 

The position you are applying for is part of the bargaining unit represented by The Washington Baltimore News Guild (WBNG / The Newsguild-CWA Local 32035).  

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for the Managing Director of Membership, Senior Director, Membership Marketing & Mid-level Giving, and Membership Gift Officers including preparing expense reports and calendar management. 
  • Work alongside the Senior Membership Engagement Associate to respond to email inquiries about NRDC’s programmatic work
  • Process vendor invoices for NRDC's direct mail program, ensuring accurate tracking and timely payment, and assist with budget management and reporting for the Membership department.
  • Review direct mail materials and allocate joint costs in accordance with accounting guidelines.
  • Helps to manage and update the Membership SOP documentation in collaboration with the team members. 
  • Manage communications to members and supporters via the NRDC Action email mailbox and two telephone hotlines. 
  • Compile member comments and feedback from the NRDC Action email mailbox and report findings to Directors of Membership and Digital Advocacy.
  • Coordinate special member stewardship communications. 
  • Log daily interactions into the Membership Console case system in Salesforce 
  • Coordinate matching gifts and workplace giving in CRM

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience. 

Skills, Abilities, Competencies

  • Demonstrated strong customer or member services skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently execute multiple tasks, follow institutional procedures, and work independently with strong attention to detail. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be comfortable speaking and interacting with NRDC members, donors, and the public. 
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks requiring rapid turnaround and to follow institutional procedures. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform or quickly learn new tasks, systems, and technology. 
  • Experience in database management strongly preferred. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Willingness and flexibility to work paid overtime, when needed. 
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements and discretion with sensitive information. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), in addition to ability to learn accounting and finance systems, as well as relevant NRDC specific software and platforms. 
  • Ability to travel as needed to NRDC U.S. based offices. 
  • Enthusiastic, warm attitude with a strong interest in assisting people. 
  • Interest in environmental or mission driven organizations also preferred

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $55,000 to $61,000.

 

NRDC operates under a hybrid work model. Employees are required to come to the office 8 days per month.
